The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH seeks the services of a Project Coordinator

Job Description

Output 1
•National guidelines for risk assessment and management of CVDs are developed
•A group of experts and stakeholders will develop in close and continuous cooperation with the Ministry of Health in Ghana these guidelines applicable for all health facilities in Ghana and the pre-requisite for all other areas of work of the project

Output 2
•Capacity of health professionals for the risk assessment and management of CVDs is improved
•Based on the developed guidelines training content and methodology including e-learning techniques will be developed for the three levels of care, and health workers from selected health facilities of all three levels trained accordingly
•Follow up of trained health workers will ensure that implementation of risk assessment and treatment is implemented according to standards defined in the guidelines and during the training

Output 3
•Infrastructure of health facilities for risk assessment and management of CVDs is improved
•To allow the effective implementation of risk assessment and management of CVDs equipment must be available specified for the different levels of care
•Following an assessment carried out at the beginning of the project in the participating health facilities needed equipment will be purchased

Output 4
•A support centre for improved risk assessment and management of CVDs is established and working
•To provide trained health workers with continuous access to support a call centre will be established at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra
•Experts will be available 24h/7 days a week

Tasks

Project Management
•Setting up a plan of operations
•Ensure timely delivery of services of the four outputs
•Ensuring smooth running of the project office
•Reporting
•Stakeholder Management
•Coordinate with all relevant stakeholders, in particular the Ministry of Health, Korle-Bu
•Teaching Hospital, trainers and consultants, the project’s partner hospitals

Implementation
•Accompany the development of national guidelines for CVDs
•Guide the development of training materials
•Arrange trainings and conduct follow-up sessions within hospitals

Monitoring
•Setup a monitoring system and follow-up on implementation
•Ensure the project’s monitoring dashboard is updated by all concerned parties

Qualification and Requirements
•A minimum of a Medical degree and or master of Public Health
•At least 5 years of experience in working in the health sector
•At least 3 years of experience in working in development cooperation in an Anglophone African country
•Proven experience in establishing good working relationship with national institutions
•Strong can-do attitude and willingness to create results under pressure
•Experience in coordinating teams
•Experience in continuous project monitoring
•Experience in project administration
•Experience in and familiar with GIZ procedures is a strong asset
•Experience with e-Learning approaches would be an asset

Other knowledge, additional competences
•Very good working knowledge of ICT technologies (related software, phone, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office)
•Fluent written and oral knowledge of the English language willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
